Hyacinth Bulb in Glass

Hello, sweet friends! My eye surgery went well, and I am beginning to see better each day. It takes time for the tear film to fully "recover," and given my other health issues...I'm sure to need extra time for healing. I thank you all for your prayers and your love. You are so dear to me.

Today I am sharing a card with you using Hyacinth Bulb in Glass, and it's been a fun one to research -- especially after reading what Marcella Hawley has shared about it:
"Let’s zip back to the 18th century Holland, when hyacinth bulbs were quite the rarified rage. People could not get enough of the beautiful scents and rich colors, helping to drive the business of professional flower growing hot on the heels of the tulip. Soon folks were forcing the bulbs into bloom indoors to brighten their windows when it was too chilly for anything to flower. Hyacinth glasses and vases were designed to cradle the bulbs and hold them just above the water; roots were coaxed from the bulbs down into the water, sending the bulb into bloom soon after. In a nostalgic nod to these wonderful windowsill displays, we have Hyacinth Bulb in Glass, so that you can have blooming hyacinth whether or not you have a bulb and a glass!
Includes a sentiment by the visionary Coco Chanel hand-lettered by a reverent Marcella Hawley. :)
This set includes a no-line coloring version of the Hyacinth Bulb in Glass image."

The hardest part was deciding on what color to use for my flower. To begin my card, I pulled into Microsoft Word both the flower image and another sentiment from Sweet Simple Things and re-sized them to fit an A2 card. After coloring the flower image, I decided to color in the background with a pale yellow. I also added some shading and highlights. I die cut the rectangle and decided to paper-pierce...something I've not done in quite a while. Then I matted it onto the lavender scalloped die and added some small nail-heads just under the sentiment to balance out the card. I adhered it to the base...and it was done. But why stop there, right? I added some Wink of Stella and some white gel pen for the flower centers and some Irresistible Pico Embellisher to pop them up. Then it was done! Hehe!

When I think about "forcing a bulb to bloom," I know we can do that by creating an environment conducive to its growth. We ourselves need a proper environment in which to grow spiritually. For us that means time spent reading God's Word, praying, meditating, and asking the Lord to guide us in our spiritual growth so we may become more and more like Christ.

All Scripture is breathed out by God
and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, and for training in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16

Now it's time for my stamping friends to hop on over to Power Poppy and purchase this beautiful digital image and use it today. And be sure to visit the Power Poppy blog today to see what Marcy has in store for us...I hear there are some surprises coming...that's all I can say now! Hehe!

Precious friends, thank you for your visits and comments that I love reading. Your prayers continue to mean so much to me...so thank you! May God bless you.

Beautiful stamp and card! I love the way you have colored and matted it! What a timely stamp release, I have recently seen hyacinths for sale in glass vases!
I am glad you are recovering well. It must be very difficult to do a surgery like that which affects your vision! Sending hugs and prayers.

What a treat for my morning, Cheryl! You must be recovering nicely to have done such a lovely work of art with this hyacinth. Even upon the closest inspection your coloring is stellar. I love the sentiment you chose for it, too. The yellow shading gives it a nice glow, and it's an easy-to-mail card. All the things I love!

This is just lovely. The flower is colored beautifully and the yellow shading is just what this image needed. I'll remember this if id decide to make a purchase. And you know when you produce something this gorgeous, you are enabling big time.
Thanks for always brightening our day with some uplifting thoughts and Bible verses.

Your colouring is amazing and your card gorgeous. I can't wait for spring flowers to bloom and bring some colour back into the garden. We broke an 80 year old record for rainfall in March and April has been pretty wet too...come on spring!!! My tulips are almost blooming and I can't wait as they are my favorite flower :)

Glad the eye surgery has been done and pray it will be an improvement for you! Not sure if it is cataracts or not, but when my mom had hers done she was raving about the difference as everything no longer looked so dark. May you heal quickly and may God bless you with some special visual gifts just for you to show you how much He loves you :) Huge ((hugs))!!

oooooh! another beauty found only in nature - but wait! here it is on your lovely, exquisitely colored card, Cheryl! It's a glorious creation, and beautifully done. I especially like the softness of color all around the background. The sentiment is just as lovely, reminding us always that the simpler things are those that linger in our hearts longest. Glad you are feeling better and healing well! Not only did my vision improve but much of my eye pain decreased, I suppose from the rubbing. The chronic ocular migraines are still there, but the other pain is vanished! I hope you are feeling excellently well soon! xo
